Assisi, Lower Basilica of St. Francis, Chapel of the Magdalene: the stained glass windows. The chapel of the Magdalene is the third on the right side. The back wall has a stained glass window with Scenes from the life of the Magdalene and saints which were made before the frescoes and are attributed to a pre-Giottesque Umbrian master. On the sides of the large window, in two smaller compartments, there are two figures of saints. A penitent saint with a gown and long loose hair is portrayed, perhaps the Magdalene herself, and underneath a saint with the attribute of the drum, which the inscription Maria soror Moysis allows to identify as the sister of Moses; on the right St. Helen (S. Elena maet Constantini) and a martyr with a palm, not identifiable. Episodes from the life of Christ are also represented.
