Assisi, Upper Basilica of St. Francis, apse: the right stained glass window. It was made around 1255. There are correspondences between episodes from the Old Testament, on the left, and the New Testament, on the right. From top to bottom and from left to right: Elijah kidnapped to Heaven; Pentecost; Elijah kidnapped to heaven in a Chariot; Ascension Day; Joseph makes himself recognized by his brothers; The unbelief of St. Thomas; Encounter between a man and a woman (?); Noli Me Tangere; Hagar and the Angel in the desert; Descent of Christ into hell; Jonah rejected by the fish; Resurrection; Passage of the Red Sea; Deposition (made in 1943-49); Moses and the bronze serpent; Crucifixion (1943-49); Journey of Abraham and Isaac towards the sacrifice; Ascent to Calvary.
