Map of Mesola Assets

Map of the Mesola Estates from Codigoro to Mesola. Paper on canvas, ink, and watercolor, cm. 75 x 128 State Archives of Modena, Estense Map, Large Maps, n° 6 "By order of the Most Illustrious Mr. D. Iovannon de S. Laurent, Councillor and Commissioner of Ferrara of the Royal Mines, I, the undersigned, have drawn up the present Drawing, in which the situation of the Mesola properties, both reclaimed and to be reclaimed, is described, with other different places all belonging to the Lease of the aforementioned Mesola. The said Drawing is transcribed in relation to a part of the Map made by me in the year 1738 of the Mesola, and in part from other drawings and particular maps, as also in the present Map, or Drawing, all the salt valleys and other places belonging to the lease of the same valleys of Volano are described, likewise taken from different drawings which is as weakly as I have been able to draw up to put in view the properties belonging, and which are the property of Their Royal Mines, which is what &c. The Blue-coloured surround are reasons belonging to the Mesola Lease. The Yellow are grounds belonging to the Lease of the Volano Salt Valleys. The White are grounds belonging to the Reverend Provostship of Pomposiana. Ferrara, July 16, 1760. Signed, Gio. Antonio Ferrari, Engineer.”
